“He’s so tight. He really needs to be fucked. You pick a horn out of the pile, press the bulb down with a honk and then push it backwards up his nook. The shape is awkward, but you shove it in all the way until only widest part of the mouth of it is outside. His body whines softly in protest. Not enough. You smirk and punch his nook with your fist. The horn goes further in.”

I just really hate it when people overprice art. It may be good art…but not wroth $12. Even if its really money, or points (from DA). I’m not trying to sound rude, but i know a lot of people who overprice they’re commissions, and most are famous.

Uhhh… would you work for less than minimum wage?
There’s this horrible expectation that artists do things for free or for a ridiculously low price because it’s “not work” and “you love doing it, right?”
It’s frustrating and it’s created an environment where artists have to constantly undersell themselves.

I’ve tried reaching out and making friends, but it always seems to end up with them just trying to squeeze free art out of me and not really caring about me.
I don’t draw porn or fandoms, so maybe that’s why I don’t have many watchers or friends. Even when I stream, it seems that people only come if I offer freebies.
I’m a person, I have feelings, I get lonely too…

I…was going to save this on-coming rant for a week or two from now since I feel it might lesson my chance at getting con-commissions, but what the hell…I’m seeing this submission now, so I might as well say it.
I agree 100%
I’ll be honest, this was the main thing that pissed me off about Bronycon, was the “artists” that sold ripped-off-the-net cutie marks (or made them as vectors) and sold them on cards and buttons.
And, I’ll be honest again…I did terrible at Bronycon. I can accept the fact that my art is not that good (though I’ll accept it with sadness), but what bothered me was the “art” I saw people walking around with…and then them dropping the line of “Darn, I want this but I spent all my money” when they got to my table.
Vectoring is not art. You’re tracing. Stop it. You can vector all you want, but DON’T FUCKING SELL IT! I had an artist show me her prints all-proudly as she told me how she vectored from the show and then made it all pretty~ with a boarder and such.
There was an artist that took screencaps of the show and slapped text over it for buttons.
I saw more people walking around with that shit than the actual REAL stuff the non-theft artists had at the con. It made me sick.
I spent hours making my buttons from scratch, and people would come look at them, look at me, and ask if I had cutie mark buttons. I told them I didn’t, and they walked away…to the next table who did…and throw their money at that person.
Now for my rant that relates to this actual secret.
I also saw more people walking around with prints and shit of copy-the-show-style than I did of them walking around with prints from artists who used their own style. Using myself as an example…I apply my own bit of drawing method to my ponies…I use black outline, and I give them more animu-ish eyes and a blush. I also color them differently than they do in the show.
You know what my top-seller was at Bronycon? This: http://full-on-zombie.deviantart.com/gallery/34705705#/d4b0vx9
The ONE print I had where I mimicked the show’s style.
I didn’t even sell ANY of some of my magnets like Dr. Hooves, or Zecora.
For buttons, I made Ms. Cake and Derpy in the same composition, and I sold NONE of my Ms. Cake, but tons of Derpies…as Ms. Cake was drawn with my own style, and Derpy was drawn in the show’s. (x)
Oh, and just an amusing note. I sold 2 Cheerilee prints (real impressive, I know), but I had MORE people than I kept track of come to my table and ask, “Why did you make Cheerilee black?” …and then when I told them that I thought she would look pretty that way, they just said “Oh-” and walked away.

And if those characters are different from the white characters, it’s stereotyping! And if those characters are the same as white characters, than it’s erasure! There is no way to satisfy an SJS.
